Batgirl Swimsuit and first CAUSEplay 2012
In 2012 I made my first CAUSEplay costume! It was a Batgirl swimsuit to wash cars with members of Hello, Sweetie! Podcast. We were raising money for women’s department at the local VA. I was grateful to participate with these lovely ladies and raise money for other strong women in the community.
I made my cape and belt cheaply in case they were ruined during the wash. Glad I decided this because the cape ended up stained by the end of the day. Having little clue on how to make a belt with pockets or adhering fabric to a swimsuit, I am very pleased with how this turned out.
If any of you are interested in creating your own CAUSEplay event this is a great and fun way to fund raise! All you need is a space to set up and a lot of advertising! The more you advertise the better. Hello, Sweetie! even had a raffle to add to the fundraising efforts! To help with advertising they worked with their sponsors, which were also local companies. I worked with a local toy store for the toy drive I arranged in 2014 to get word out there and create more interest. If this is your first event it will also create legitimacy.
This is something I would be interested in doing again in the future! It was a lot of fun! If you are in the Seattle area and would be interested in being involved please let me know! AdventureWithMala@gmail.com.
