The Houses October Built (2014)
Another lost footage type movie focused around Haunted houses so be prepared for the jumpy footage and the what not. The more I watch these the more I wish they would stop being made but that seems to be the vast majority of horror movies being made these days. I understand their low cost appeal but the stories really lack and that is what I want to see! The story! This will be my last lost footage/documentary style horror movie this year. I don’t know if I can handle the disappointment again.
The beginning really drags as you see the friends goof around on their road trip to various haunted houses. I could have done with out the strip club scene personally, it didn’t add to the movie other than lots of boobs.
In fact there is only one good thing about this entire movie. I really enjoyed the cynical characters designs (there are the characters currently displayed on Netflix). Really creepy designs influenced by haunted house costumes. Like this creepy design.
There needed to be more of these characters in the movie. I would have liked it more. By the way, if you are terrified of clowns there are a lot of clowns in this movie. Just thought I would mention it. 😉
Be weary this Halloween if you are looking for a true scare. You might get more than you bargained for.
