What got you into CAUSEplaying?
When attending my first convention ever, which was Motor City Comic Con 2009, I was asked if I was with Rebel Legion because of my Star Wars costume. Not knowing what it was, I found out more information and was amazed to see how much good a group of costumers could do. I became a member one year later.

What keeps you CAUSEplaying?
The smiles I can help bring to children’s faces, especially ones going through tough times who don’t get to smile that often. I love being a hero to those who need one, by bringing their favorite characters to life and raising money to help out worthy causes.

What was your first CAUSEplay event?
I can’t even remember now, there were so many my first year – but it would have been an event with the Rebel Legion.

What is your favorite costume to wear while CAUSEplaying, and Why?
Probably Princess Leia. She’s been such an idol to so many girls as a strong female character and a princess who isn’t helpless. In fact, a girl once told me she’s her favorite character because “she can do everything the boys can do.”
 photo 6_zpsq6th7ng0.jpg
Most memorable CAUSEplay moment: Working the Cleveland Walk for MS as Rogue with Heroes Alliance and a young girl was so excited to see a female superhero, and wants to be one when she grows up. I sincerely hope her dream comes true!
What is your favorite cause to support? Any and all good causes are important to me, but a few that are close to my heart are Make A Wish, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, and public libraries.
 photo 1_zpswaf86ja8.jpg
The silliest/strangest thing you have done for a cause?
Participating in a slave Leia version of “shoot a trooper,” where for a donation to Make A Wish, participants can use nerf guns in a “shooting gallery” of costumed Star Wars characters. Normally the targets are Stormtroopers or other imperials – this time we mixed it up with slave Leias! Dodging nerf darts wearing goggles and the infamous metal bikini is no easy task!

Who inspires you?
Those who are faced with more adversity every day than most of us will face in a lifetime, but are still able to smile and fight through each day. And those who support them, whether they be family, friends, etc. or fellow CAUSEplayers.

Advice for CAUSEplaying: At the end of the day, its all about the impact you leave behind. The price of putting together the costume, getting to the event, etc. all fades away when you see someone who had little to no hope in their eyes light up at seeing their favorite character coming to support them in their struggle. Always be kind, always be understanding, and even when you may not feel like one, you’ll be a hero to someone who needs one.

What CAUSEplay events do you have coming up?
Eddie’s Run this weekend to benefit special needs and disabled kids and adults. I’m also going to have a print run coming up to benefit the Crohn’s and Colitis foundation of America.

Do you prefer to be called a cosplayer or costumer?
Either or. I’m not picky.

What was your first costume/cosplay?
Princess Leia’s metal bikini – after that, you can costume ANYTHING!

What is your day job (a.k.a. how I pay for my expensive hobby)?
I’m an administrative and marketing assistant.

If you could have any job what would it be and why?
I always wanted to work on storyline and character designs for video games.

Star Wars or Star Trek: Star Wars

Marvel or DC: BOTH.

Favorite Comic Series: Too many to name, but Black Canary & Green Arrow, Catwoman, JTHM, The Crow, and X-Men are among my favorites.

Favorite Comic Character: Tie between Rogue and Catwoman.

Least favorite comic character and why?
If I had to choose, probably Wolverine. He gets so hyped up that people lose sight of the other X-Men.

Favorite Book: Too many to name.

Favorite Video Game: Too many favorites, but The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time always sticks out as one of my absolute favorites.

Favorite Convention: Colossalcon in Sandusky, Ohio has always been a favorite.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)

photo sweeneytoddr1art1_zpsvfpghnrk.jpgSweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)

Genre: Drama Horror Musical

I loved the movie since the first time and will always love this movie!  The music has been stuck in my head lately so I decided to add it to my list of 31 horror movies for 2015!  Though I don’t personally consider it a horror movie, as a friend recently pointed out that it really is because of the murder that takes place.  I curse that friend for being correct and bow to his wisdom.  Which ultimately is more reason to include this movie on my 2015 list!  So I am not complaining!

I love the music, yes this is a musical, consider yourself warned.  I have never seen this show on stage and really want to! I have always been fond of Stephen Sondheim’s musicals though.

This is a star studded cast of epic proportions!  You have Johnny Depp, Alan Rickman, Timothy Spall, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sacha Baron Cohen.  They really couldn’t have cast this film better.

The steampunker in me adores the fashion in this movie!!! The details are great!!  In both the costumes and the set designs.

I know I am unrealistic but I think everyone will and should love this movie!   I hope you enjoy it and much as I do!

Teeth (2007)

 photo teeth-cover-2_zpscpsq8xyb.jpgTeeth (2007)

Genre: Dark Comedy Horror Thriller

Oh, the many aspects of the movie.  I had heard rumors of its existence and was surprised to see it on Netflix.  So of course I had to watch it for the 31 horror movies for 2015!

To sum up this movie the teeth are in the main character’s vagina. Her name is Dawn by the way. And Dawn is a good little girl who believes in abstinence only. She doesn’t know there are teeth in her vagina until a guy tries to rape her.  Then of course there is panic as this difference is discovered and she begins to come into her previously unexplored sexuality.

At one point Dawn, who apparently has no idea what a vagina looks like, decides to take on the task of removing a sticker her school placed in her text book to hid the vagina diagram so that she can learn what this part of the anatomy looks like. She then decides to search the internet for vagina teeth now knowing that she is different. Why didn’t she search the internet for a diagram to begin with? I think that would have been a whole lot easier than waiting for the adhesive to melt/dissolve in water!  But hey, that may just be me!

This movie is labeled as a comedy on IMDB but there wasn’t much comedy to it. Yes, a few places here are there made me chuckle but that was it. This movie was more full of things that cannot be unseen once seen.  And there is a lot of content not for the faint of heart. If you have a weak constitution don’t watch this movie.  So if you feel brave venture forth just remember penis go into vaginas and the vagina that gets action in this film has teeth. CHOMP! CHOMP!

Is this a drinking movie?  You could make it a game if you want but I don’t recommend that.

Zombeavers (2014)

 photo Zombeavers-Poster_zps3lxrxf4s.jpg Zombeavers (2014)

Genre: Comedy Horror

I LOVE this movie!  From the opening that is a mesh of James Bond and Scooby Doo to the use of puppet (always a win in my book) and animatronics!   From the gore and comedy this movie is brilliant!

And yes there are beaver and wood jokes throughout the whole movie.  You won’t be let down in that regard.   In fact, this movie won’t let you down with the campy raunchiness that only a B movie can achieve.

I love how so many aspects that seemed unimportant in the beginning came back in the end of the movie.  And the ending was just brilliant!!

And Richard Cheese has a song during the closing credits which of course makes you laugh even more after seeing this movie and snap you fingers!

By the way, I totally got my friend Kenny the Creeper to watch this with me! Check out his review (with a brief appearance of yours truly) on his YouTube channel!

Hellgate (2011)

 photo HellGate_zpsyrql6egx.jpgHellgate (2011)

Genre: Fantasy Horror Thriller

One major side note regarding this movie, Cary Elwes stars in it which caused me ran into the same thing I did with the Saw movie he was in. I kept waiting to hear him say, “as you wish”, from the Princess Bride.  If you can get over this you might like Hellgate!

You do have to get through bad acting (I chalk it up to some actors acting in a second language) but I really enjoyed the premise of the movie.  I also loved the use of the Thai culture in the tale.

The different deaths and make up effects were well done.  Too be honest I wish there was more of this.  The last half of the movie just felt like a journey of redemption (for several characters) pulling in more of a drama feel and completely removing the horror feeling that had been so well developed in the beginning.  The makers did try to bring the horror back with terrible CG effects at one point.  There was a ton of potential but seemed like there was little budget to invest in this part of the movie.  In fact this movie feel short of the potential I envisioned.  Personally, I found the sappy ending to be very annoying and a let down.  Plus I was really bored during the middle.  Simply put, this movie had a ton of potential but was disappointing.

Is this a drinking movie?  No.

The Devils Rejects (2005)

The Devils Rejects (2005) photo large_fj4rrpUlBpFjPaJecpjID6yqacx_zps1j6bk2q0.jpg

Genre: Crime Cult Drama Horror

This movie is a horror cult classic directed by Rob Zombie. And his works are a lot like Quinton Tarantino, you either love him or hate him.  If you love horror movies then chances are you will love this movie!  Be aware that like many Tarantino movies the acting isn’t necessarily the best.  But as with Tarantino, you can look past this to the brilliance that is the movie.  Rob Zombie also wrote this movie and it is amazing the level of crazy psychopathic behavior that is displayed.

Personally, I love the ode to 70’s horror movies.  This decade was very influential with horror classics like Amityville Horror, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hills Have Eyes, and others that have influenced or been re-made because of their horror classiness.  This is seen in the grainy opening, clothing, and music.  Even the cars go as far as creating the right feel for this movie.

Is this a drinking movie?  No.
